David Lofy
Trombone, Sousaphone, Trumpet, & Drum Major
David Lofy is a Lecturer and the Assistant Director of Athletic Bands in the UW-Eau Claire Department of Music & Theatre Arts, and Corps Director of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps.
David has served in instructional and administrative roles in both collegiate bands and drum and bugle corps. He performed with the Madison Scouts, and afterward served on the educational staff of the Oregon Crusaders. David later returned to the Madison Scouts as Corps Director and Programs Director of its parent organization, Forward Performing Arts.
David holds the Master of Music Education (MME) degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he served as a Teaching Assistant with the University of Illinois Bands. During his time at Illinois he assisted with Marching Illini as well as the Fighting Illini Basketball Band. He obtained his Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
During his time at the UW-Eau Claire, David was a member of the euphonium studio, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, BASSically Brass, Singing Statesmen, Phi Mu Alpha, and Blugold Marching Band.
βThe Blugold Marching Band was the most important factor in my decision to attend UW-Eau Claire. I made lifelong friends (and met Catherine, my wife!) in the BMB who ultimately led me to make the decision to pursue music education. I feel immense gratitude for this ensemble, not only for the community and high-energy performances it gave me the opportunity to participate in, but for giving me space to make mistakes, learn, and grow as a young person.β
